This week in 1908, 1945

Every weekend JOBC goes back in time to the last year the Cubs won the World Series (1908) and the NL Pennant (1945).

This week in 1908, the Cubs and Giants play a hugely memorable series at West Side Grounds, Lizzie Borden celebrates a birthday, and despite there only being a few automobiles on the streets of Chicago, Chicago Mayor Busse gets into a fender bender with a Giants player.

This week in 1945, the US Army reopens the breweries in Germany, the Cubs win 10 in a row, and the All-Star game is cancelled by the league because of the war.
