Yikes

I know she's a local girl (Downers Grove), and I know she's pretty, but whoo boy, singing is not on her list of accomplishments...

American Mustache Institute

I've been in contact with the guy who runs this site: The American Mustache Institute.

He reminds me of me. Today he runs a feature on the two players the Cubs will honor this month: Greg Maddux and Fergie Jenkins.

As it turns out, at one time in their careers they both had mustaches.

I also featured both of their mustaches at Just One Bad Century last year...

Right downtown and print it

I can't let the anniversary (4/29/83) go by without giving you the audio one more time. Oh Lee Elia, we love you so.

What would that audio sound like put to the tune of Eddie Vedder's Cubs song? Wonder no more...

Field of Dreams is 20 years old

It was released this week in 1989. This scene may be the best baseball scene about baseball ever filmed. People will come, Ray. People will most definitely come.

A new last stop for Cubs fans

You have to see this to believe it. Bohemian National Cemetery on the Northwest Side features a 14-foot-high replica of Wrigley Field's center field wall that houses urns containing ashes of departed Cubs fans.

The area includes seats from Wrigley as well as grass taken from the ballpark.

Obama disses the Cubs

From the Dallas Morning News yesterday. Reporter Gromer Jeffers Jr. reports...

"I realize that Barack Obama is a White Sox fan. It happens when you move to Chicago's South Side and start a political career.

But is it right for President Obama to use his office to promote the White Sox, Chicago's least favorite professional sports franchise, by allowing members of the team to visit the White House?

The trip is set for today, when the team should be preparing for an upcoming series with Baltimore.

I hope Obama remembers the challenge I made to him after an interview last year.

I asked him if he would invite the Cubs to the White House, when they won the World Series.

He responded that he would be long gone from the White House by the time the Cubs won it all.

We'll see, Sox fan."
